Many members of the Daisybeck team awoke with sore heads Saturday morning, following a surprise win at the prestigious Royal Television Society
(Yorkshire) Programme Awards on Friday night. Daisybeck won the coveted “Indie Spirit” Award for the second year running and a shocked, but delighted Managing Director, Paul Stead said
“Wow. What an honour.
Thank you to the RTS and the judges for recognising the efforts of my amazing team. I know I’m blessed with brilliant, creative and dedicated people and for them to be recognised by our peers means the world to us all”.
The Award was hotly contested by the biggest and best TV production companies in the region and Paul paid tribute to their work. “We’re so lucky to have True North in the region. With such a huge slate and now the backing of new owners Sky, the future for hundreds of freelancers on our patch is secure. Together with them and fellow nominee and RTS winners Air TV, RTS winner Roger Keech Productions, ITV’s Shiver and fantastic companies like Juggle, Screenhouse and RTS winner Anna Hall/True Vision Aire – the future of factual production is secure for many years to come.”
Daisybeck has 28 hours of TV currently in production including series 5 of The Yorkshire Vet plus 3 hours of additional programmes for Channel 5 and a yet to be announced single documentary for Channel 4.
“We’d like to thank the commissioning and channel management teams at Channel 4 and Channel 5 for all their hard work and support. It’s their Award too as at the end of the day – it’s all about team work”
