BROADCAST AND ROYAL TELEVISION SOCIETY AWARDS
The work of our incredible teams was recognised in two prestigious Awards when Springtime on the Farm won a national BROADCAST Award for Best Lockdown Programme and The Highland Vet won an RTS Yorkshire Centre Programme Award for Best in Low Cost Factual. Congratulations to Richard Mortimer and Emily Cadman who led the way on Springtime on the Farm. This was a show that was cancelled due to the pandemic but allowed to go ahead thanks to Rich, Emily and their team coming up with creative ways of making the show safely, with the support of our amazing Production Management team, led by Sophie Macfarlane.

Phyllis Logan joined Series Editor Mark McMullen and his team to collect the RTS Award and we’re so proud of the team behind The Highland Vet. As with all programmes over the last 18 months, it was a huge challenge to keep the show afloat and it is a credit to Mark’s team and the staff and clients at D S McGregor and Partners in Thurso that the series was completed. Well done to both teams on their much deserved wins.
GOING LIVE AGAIN ON THE FARM
Following a hugely successful summer series, we’re returning to Cannon Hall Farm in South Yorkshire for Winter on the Farm LIVE week commencing 6th December at 8pm on Channel 5. The Nicholson family have captured the heart of the audiences since we began with Springtime on the farm in 2018. Previously, the programme was recorded ‘as live’ but over the summer, Channel 5 asked us to produce a nightly live version which exceeded all audience expectations. Winter on the Farm Live will capture the spirit of the season and the run up to Christmas and will be followed by a special 90-minute show Christmas on the Farm to be broadcast as part of Channel 5’s Christmas schedules. Mel Smith was the Series Editor on the summer show and returns to take the reins (and reindeer!) for Winter on the Farm. Daisybeck MD Paul Stead says “We’re so thrilled to be going live again from Cannon Hall Farm. We love live events and the Nicholson’s will ensure ANYTHING could happen! Luckily with the fabulous Mel Smith in charge – and all the experience she has in the live telly world – means I won’t quite have the nervous breakdown I might otherwise have!”
CAROL DRINKWATER’S YEAR IN PROVENCE IS OUR GUILTY PLEASURE
Our colleagues within eOne have provided audiences on Sunday nights with a sumptuous celebration of life in the Cote d’Azur thanks to their new series Carol Drinkwater’s Year in the Provence. Carol was best known to Daisybeck audiences in the role of Helen in the original All Creatures Great and Small and lives on an olive farm in the South of France. Author, actress and farmer, together with her husband Michel open their world to us and share their love of this most beautiful part of the world. The six part series airs on Channel 5 on Sunday nights at 9pm and is a co-production with Motion Content Group. Congratulations to eOne EVP/Executive Producer Matt Pritchard and his team which includes Lucy Hooper and James Nutt on a beautiful series which has become a guilty pleasure for the Daisybeck Studios web team.
CELEBRATING OUR FIRST SERIES COMMISSION FOR CHANNEL 4
Channel 4 has announced the commissioning of BIDDING WARS, our first volume commission for the channel since they moved their National HQ to Leeds. Full details of the commission can be read here https://www.channel4.com/…/channel-4-commissions…
We’d like to welcome Series Producer, Sioux Sharp who is in charge of the new show as she makes her Daisybeck debut. This is also the first Daisybeck Studios project for eOne UK Unscripted TV EVP Matt Walton. “Having Matt leading the creative on Bidding Wars means we can tap into his vast expertise in creating new, returnable formats he gained at 12 Yard where he was Head of Entertainment & Factual.” Said Daisybeck MD Paul Stead. At 12 Yard, Matt co-created and executive-produced hundreds of hours of programming for all major UK networks, including high volume quiz, game, reality, competition and makeover shows. His credits include 23 series of Coach Trip and Celebrity Coach Trip. Bidding Wars will be broadcast on Channel 4 later in the year and is a co-production with our friends at Motion Content Group. International distribution of the series and the format is being handled by Freemantle.
